Can I grow live oaks as part of a tree farm? If so, how far apart should I plant them?

Dear Rene,

You can certainly grow live oaks as part of a tree farm! Oak trees are majestic and long lived, though the process of growing them from acorn to tower is going to be a long one. Spacing for oak trees is vital, and at a minimum, you should try to give them 40 feet.

The San Francisco Chronicle has some fantastic information on the spacing for oaks, though this is clearly for more urban locations.

Best,

Daniel
